TOP 10

My Favourite Escape Rooms in Sydney (2018/19)

This was a very difficult list to make, I wanted to mention them all but each of these rooms has something special that makes it stand out!

01

Ex Libris - Next Level

Next Level has just reopened in the CBD and has not let me down! After still being ranked #3 on TripAdvisor despite being closed for a while, I was very excited when I heard they were reopening. Ex Libris was everything I want in an escape room: fun, challenging and unexpected. I loved the touch of familiarity in every room with references to popular novels. The rooms were exquisitely themed with the puzzles fitting in nicely. It is the sort of room that you walk into and simply think "WOW!"

02

The Marlowe Hotel - The Cipher Room

The impeccable theming and atmosphere of this room is utterly breathtaking. This one wins the top spot for many of my enthusiast friends.

03

Bank Heist - Social Escape

Sydney's trickiest room reaps the greatest reward with this unique escape room offering a cash prize to those who complete the main puzzles + the optional puzzles without hints... in ONE hour! No teams have succeeded oat this on their first try but there is a first time for everything! This room is exciting, challenging and well themed.

04

The Lost Mine - Mission Escape

A real adventure, this is an escape room I could NOT manage in a pair. This escape room can almost rival Bank Heist with its tricky puzzles but what makes this one special is the "WOW factor." If I say any more I will spoil it for you but for those of you who have played the Lost Mine, you know what I mean! I wish I could forget this escape room so I could do it all over again!

05

Unstoppable - Mission Escape

After playing Missions new escape rooms which include Unstoppable and Trapped, it has become clear that they have mastered the creation of realistic adventure rooms. When I walked into Unstoppable I could swear that I had walked into a Sydney train station (that had had a good clean). This escape room was ideal to play with two people and was a whole bundle of fun.

06

Paris Escape - Social Escape

By far the best escape room for first timers, families and parties! This escape room is beautifully decorated to resemble a chic hotel room in Paris and with the aim to find passport and tickets there is nothing scary for children! There are a lot of things to do at a range of difficulty levels so everyone can participate and enjoy. The romantic vibes of Paris captured in this room makes it ideal for dates as well!

07

The Cabin - The Cipher Room

The Cipher Room is ranked #1 on TripAdvisor for a reason, these rooms are so authentic and well themed I am transported into another time, another place, another life. The Cabin is arguably spooky, although there are no jump scares (thank goodness!).This room had exceptional puzzles and was a huge amount of fun to play but again I don't want to give anything away!

08

Crime Scene '95 - ParaPark

Expanding from the CBD, ParaPark is situated in Macquarie Park which makes it ideal for anyone who doesn't want to have to deal with the intensity of the city. This room was seriously cool... I was a murderer trying to cover up my steps and I felt like it! I did both of the rooms at ParaPark one after the other and they both deserve a mention for their ingenuity and theming. Like at Next Level, ParaPark has a duplicate room allowing for larger rooms and races which I think is very cool... if only I had enough friends! I especially liked these rooms for the style of their puzzles but you can see them for yourselves!

09

Espionage - The Cipher Room

I've said it once and I will say it again... The Cipher Room is mindbogglingly well themed. Espionage has won favour among many children as well as adults with its sneaky little tricks *wink*.

10

Baker St. Mystery - Social Escape

A one room wonders, this escape room is deceiving at first being a single room. However, I dare you to get out in time! This room is beautifully decorated and much harder than you would expect. If you love cryptic puzzles and hidden surprises... this is the room for you.
